How to Prepare Your Home Before the Cleaning Team Arrives (and What You Don't Need to Do)
First-time clients often ask if they need to tidy up before we get there — which is a fair question, since it's not always obvious where “your job” ends and “our job” begins. Here's a clear answer.
What You Should Do Beforehand
Pick up personal items and clutter — clothes, toys, papers. We clean surfaces; we're not a organizing service, so cleared surfaces mean a more thorough clean.
Secure pets if they're anxious around new people — not required, but it makes the visit smoother for everyone, including your pet.
Note any problem areas or specific requests — if something's bothering you specifically, mention it. We're not going to guess your priorities.
Provide access instructions — lockbox code, garage code, or how you'd like entry handled if you won't be home.
What You Don't Need to Do
You don't need to clean before we clean — we've heard this concern from more than a few clients, and it's genuinely unnecessary. That's the job.
You don't need to be home — many clients aren't, and we work fine with lockbox or code entry.
You don't need to provide cleaning supplies — we bring our own eco-friendly products and equipment.
If You Won't Be Home
A lot of our recurring clients simply aren't present for most visits — which is completely normal. Clear entry instructions and a note about where to leave anything (mail, packages we should be aware of, etc.) is really all that's needed.
First Visit vs. Ongoing Visits
The first visit typically takes a bit longer since we're getting to know your home's layout and any specific quirks or requests. After that, ongoing visits tend to move faster and more predictably, since we already know the space.
